Mobile Application Development- Strategic Role of Design in it

Building an interface for iPhone / iPad is to build simple and smart. The small size restricts the content side, while the touch brings new forms of interaction: zoom, pinch, drag, sweep etc...

These "constraints" specific to mobile devices lead us to concentrate on the essentials, starting from this premise: a good application can perform a limited number of features but must do so to perfection in a context of mobility. If the solutions are similar and according to the navigation standard needs (see iOS Apple Human Interface Guidelines) must be able to succeed at the game and to build the game design / ergonomics. To do so, we must combine user-centered design (User Interface Design) and graphic design.

No doubt in an application can do everything and no matter in any order: there are no particular technical constraints and it would be possible to achieve feature-rich, but that does not simply run on mobile devices.

We often get functional specifications extremely dense and our first task is to educate our partners on the fact that too many features kills the mobile application. It should be based on usage, retaining only the essential, to achieve a set or several applications that meet the needs.

We must therefore think of mobile and adapt the functional architecture to support the following formula:

Ui design + Graphic Design> code = APPS

The user interface of the application must be designed in advance. During this phase all content must be listed and classified in the form of sketches and diagram (mockup and storyboard). Navigation flows are detailed and everything is designed to enable a quick and easy access to information. Purified, this step should reveal that the application functionality. It is important not to confuse it with the graphic design that will result.

Graphic design on the other hand, has used the architecture and navigation leads to be even more intuitive and efficient. That makes the environment comfortable for the user. Here we must have a real eye for detail and be sure that each pixel is exactly in its place.

You can buy an application just because she is beautiful, but we buy primarily because it is an identified need, clearly identified in advance.

As part of a development iPhone / iPad, instead of design and ergonomics is often not sufficiently taken into account, or too late, when it seems that the designer must take place as early possible to assist the client in the selection of features that will change later in the application tool.

Beyond the simple selection of features, you must keep in mind that changing the navigation elements in the coding phase can be very tedious as part of a project that relies on mobile development tools While specific robust but quite stiff. The integration of change is therefore much more complicated than in the development of a traditional website. There will therefore be well advised to logically define very clearly the ergonomics and design before this piece of code to avoid unpleasant load exceeding.

For these reasons, we provide special care to involve the design of the preliminary phases of a project because we believe that well beyond the simple aesthetic design is a decisive factor for success in project management and mobile so it largely depends on him as a successful application.
